Not sure whether to choose Solid Oak or Engineered Oak Flooring?
Oak is a highly attractive choice for flooring, whether it’s in a hallway or bedroom, and usually extremely long-lasting. It’s also been shown that any wood flooring can add value to your home, particularly oak.
What’s the difference between solid and engineered oak?
As the name suggests, solid oak flooring is just that- made from solid wood. It has no substratum whatsoever and since it’s pure, can be expensive.
Engineered oak flooring, meanwhile, is made from several different layers (or ‘bonds’ as they’re sometimes called). If you’re on a tighter budget, engineered oak flooring could be ideal; because it’s not made of pure oak, it is much cheaper than solid flooring.
